You must be aware of this brand, Sennheiser. The German brand makes killer headphones. They sonically not only sound nice but also comfortable to wear for a long time. The Sennheiser HD 206 falls in their studio headphones line. The headphone is therefore a studio monitor headphone. Studio monitors are headphone sound engineers and artists wear for hours in work. They have to be comfortable. And, Sennheiser HD 206 is comfortable to wear. The earpads are soft and made with leatherette material and this aids good comfort for the wearers.
The headphone is completely lightweight. The build quality will not impress anyone but for the price, the build is good. Much emphasis has been given to the sound quality. The sound quality is very good. The headphones have rich and crisp bass. The mid-range is clear and there’s enough treble sparkle to keep your music interesting. You see, the headphones don’t have active noise cancellation but the passive noise isolation is very good. After all, it is used in studios.
The headphone comes with a Gold-plated 1/4″ (6.3 mm) jack adaptor. You can insert them in any source and get good sound quality.
The frequency response of this headphone is 21 – 18000 Hz. This range is more than enough for a good music listening experience. The headphone can go to the Sound pressure level (SPL) of 108 dB. That’s quite loud and you probably don’t require this loudness from the headphone. The headphone has a long cable and the length of the default cable is 3 meters. The headphone weighs 215 grams and is easy to wear for a long period of time. This pair of headphones is one of the best most comfortable headphones in India. This is the second Sennheiser product that we are coming across in this list. This Sennheiser HD 599 is an open-back headphone. That means, the ear cans are open on both sides and therefore the driver is visible from both sides. This arrangement makes the sound wider. This also means the sound will leak from the ear a lot. Like, a lot. Also, the noise goes into the earphone and therefore into our eardrums. This headphone is supposed to be used in a silent room or perhaps in the studio. You cannot take the headphone out for a walk or listening to them while traveling on a bus. Because they let in noise.
Fortunately, one aspect of this headphone is its comfort. Sennheiser HD 599 is super comfortable. The earpads are nice. They are fabric wrapped around a soft foamy layer and cushions really well. The headphone itself is weightless. The headband is very very comfortable and evenly distributes the weight very well. The clamping force is less and in no way uncomfortable. After a few minutes, you seldom remember that you have headphones on. Also, the wire is detachable in this headphone. The wire is attached to only one side of the ear caps and this adds more comfort that the wire is out of the way.
The sound quality of this headphone is too good. The bass is nice and defined. You cannot expect much bass from open-back headphones. For the price, the bass is worth it. The bass doesn’t feel immediate but resembles the bass in a club. That is, the bass feels a bit distant and not felt like you’re near the subwoofer.
The mids are beautiful and refined. It is the female voice that hears distinctly in this headphone. The female voice sounds excellent and with an open-back design, the sound is spacious. The treble is rolled off but it is there. There is no shortage of treble. You can still hear excellent details in the treble range. Price aside, Sennheiser HD 599 is one of the most comfortable headphones in India.
